Well, it looks like this is my last blog of the year. I think that next year I’m gonna have the same premise. I really like being able to write. It calms me down and brings my life back into focus. For today’s blog I’m going to list all of my favorite poems that I think show the events and changes I’ve experienced this year.
She told me,
“You’re like the sun”
it’s funny cause,
my world revolves around her
I shouldn’t be awake right now
I shouldn’t be awake right now because of you.
I was on top of the waterfall
Looking down off the edge
Seeing the current pulling
I wanted to be a part of that beautiful scene
I jumped in
But I guess I didn’t jump at the right time cause
I never landed.
Dande is a lion
Dande sees African sunsets painted on a dark canvas sky
How could anyone be unhappy?
We could be
Cold drinks in summer
Tune plucked by a fire if
Things were different.
I wish things were different and
Yet am glad they’re not cause
I’ve heard we are all made of atoms
That blew up and scattered but
Are still looking for each other and
I’ve found mine in you.
My last poem of the year. Well, I guess not of the year, just the last one I’ll be posting on this blog. For once, I’ll try and explain what I’m saying here. Does that ruin the magic? Oh well.
I was never supposed to be so alone
Maybe it was meant to be this way
One set of footprints house tiny pools of saltwater
They are easier washed away by the waves anyway
My feet don’t pick up anymore
Long lines in wet sand
When someone walks beside me
I get pushed into the current
I can’t be two pairs of footprints again
It’s too much walking
My feet ache.
I‘m going through a bit of an “alone in a crowd” slum right now. It isn’t much fun. I am really trying to find the motivation I’ve had all year to get through these exams and finish up this round in journalism. I don’t want things I love like journalism to suffer because I’m going through a rough patch. I’ll be okay though. I promise that to anyone who has read this far. Thanks for that by the way, it really means a lot to see that people actually read my stuff. Summer is coming up, I’ll be driving, working, and of course, writing.
That’s all for this blog though. If you want to follow my writing and adventures over the summer, check out my personal blog here. If you need some input on writing, want some edits on something, or just want to talk, you can get in touch with me at my email firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks so much to anyone who took the time to read this, I hope you have a wonderful summer!
