DECA took home the title as Chapter of Year with the highest team total in points at yesterday’s District Competition. The club will advance to the state competition in March.
Five students were individual overall award winners and eight received medals for top role play scenarios. Individuals winners include Temple Dixon (1st), Oscar Rodriguez (2nd), Ge’Kovie Jackson (2nd), Faith Mills (3rd), and Hayden Askea (3rd). The Role Play Medals were given to Amala Clawson , John Gillespie, Corinne Jenkins, Bryanna Pace, Amy Webster, Yanal Ammar, Josh Waters, and Ryan Kirby.
“DECA is a great way for me to interact with new people and learn things about business that I can apply to my marketing classes. Not to mention it is a ton of fun,” sophomore Amala Clawson said.
The Roberson DECA Club is divided into teams made up of Sports Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Apparel, Hotel Management, and Principles of Marketing, all of which competed in the district event.
The groups also met with entrepreneurs and took a tour of the U.S. Cellular Center, where the the competition was held. Below are images of standouts from the competition.
