In honor of the long awaited end of the school year here is a listicle of four things you will eventually experience in your four years of high school.
- It may be cliche, but your friend groups will change. Even if they alter slightly and only a few people leave, you will not end your high school career with the exact same people you entered it with. Don’t expect everyone you know to stay the same person forever either, people grow and change, whether it be for better or worse. Who knows, maybe it’s your senior year and you and your freshman bestfriend have a class together but never even glance at one another. This does not mean you should purposely drop every friend you have after each year, there are the lucky few who stick together!
- There is going to be that one AP exam you are going to fail. You will probably cry and realize 2 years later it was never going to affect whether or not you got into the college of your dreams. I’m assuming you were that sophomore that took AP European History and beat yourself up about every assignment, but hopefully now, you realize it never actually mattered. Who needs AP anyways?
- We all have that one teacher we hate with all our guts, or it just seems they are out to get you. At this point it’s senior year and you realize that not every teacher or peer needs to be in love with you. You used to dress to impress (who knows who) and all you wanted was to be the teacher’s pet, but at this point no one else’s opinion really affects you. So if you are younger and still have a few more years left, know that it’s not all about how everyone thinks about you, just pass your classes and make some memories worth keeping.
- At this point you are a completely different person. You glowed up (maybe), senioritis has truly kicked in, and all you want is summer break and those college days. You can look back and see all the pointless stress and late nights of homework. You can scroll through your Instagram and have some serious nostalgia. You can finally understand what every other senior said when you were younger about taking it slow and not wishing it away so quickly. Your high school days are over and maybe you actually kind of miss it.
Well, it was a good four years wasn’t it. You experience so many crazy things, but at least it’s over right? For those of you who aren’t quiet there yet, good luck in these next few years of yours, make the most of it.
