Hey y’all! My name is Mollie and my blog, Glory of the Goal, will be about being an athlete who plays with Christ as the stern center of their game, a Christian Athlete.
The definition of Christian is a person who believes in Jesus Christ and his teachings. The definition of athlete is a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of exercise. Putting those two words together is a whole other ballgame, no pun intended.
Many of you probably recognize the name Jackie Robinson, famous second basemen American Major League baseball player of the late 1940’s, mid 1950’s. Robinson is not only given credit to today for being the first African American baseball player to play in the major leagues but for his supposed base of strength during his career. It is noted that his devotion to God is what allowed him the strength to pursue the breaking of the color barrier. He took the hatred due to his race and turned it into a reason to be more reliant on God. Jackie Robinson was a Christian Athlete.
Now even though I don’t have any dramatic racism acts towards me which lead me to my faith, Christ is still the center of my game. Even if it’s just a practice, it means something bigger to me because of who I am playing it for. I’m all for the praying before games and all of that, but when it comes down to it, a Christian Athlete goes beyond the prayer. When they play, they play for God. When they lose, they lose and do not blame God. And when they win, they win and give the Glory to God. Each day, I continue to grant myself the challenge of truly playing with God as my center, and fulfilling that fortitude as an Athlete as well as a person.
With this blog I plan to unravel the faith of professional as well as local athletes, and unravel bits and pieces of my faith to you all as well.
-And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.-
And so I say for the first time..
Make Him the Glory of your goal.
