Hello and welcome back my lovely fashionistas!
If there’s one thing I love in life more than clothes, it’s shoes. Shoes honestly make my heart beat a little faster. To me, there’s nothing better than buying a new pair of shoes, taking them out of the box, and strutting around in them for everyone to see. In my opinion, shoes can make or break an outfit. In my last blog, I talked about the iconic jean fashion trend, and the way my generation is bringing back the trends of the 80’s. In this blog, I’ll continue with the recycled 80’s trend! The topic of my blog today is Converse sneakers.
In many iconic 80’s movies and TV shows, characters can usually be seen wearing Converse sneakers. Converse were a classic fashion statement in the 80’s, just like jeans. Flash forward to today, and most girls you see in the hallways at school are wearing hightop white or black Converse.
History of Converse:
The Converse Rubber Corporation first opened in 1908, and the well-known All Star “Chuck Taylors” became popular around the 1920’s that were made solely for athletic purposes, but mostly basketball players. But as the shoe became more popular in the 1970’s, many more regular civilians were wearing them. The shoes became popular for their style and different color choices. People from rock musicians to young children could be seen wearing them. To date, more than 800,000,000 Converse have been sold world-wide.
Converse are definitely a more laid-back/casual look. There are so many ways to wear converse, which is why they are so popular. If you’re in a rush and wanting to put a quick, cute look together, try putting on some leggings, a sweatshirt and throw on a pair of high-top converse. This look is super comfortable and you can find many girls at school wearing this ensemble. If you want a more cute, casual, put together look, try pairing a pair of converse with black or light wash jeans and a cute shirt. I always like to wear a nice belt that matches my shirt to pull the look together. Lastly, if you’re like me and enjoy wearing dresses, try going with a simpler dress (or even a denim dress) paired with a nice pair of high tops. Make sure the color compliments the dress to give it a put-together look.
I hope you all have enjoyed this blog and I have inspired some of you to try something new with your style. Stepping out of your comfort zone can be scary when it comes to fashion, but it’s a great way to learn your true style. Tune in next time for more up and coming trends that high schoolers are actually wearing.
