Hey girlies! Since spring has sprung, and fresh produce is out and about even more than usual, I thought it’d be appropriate to give you guys some tips on eating clean!
My first trick that works for me is to avoid junk food when I can. Usually, if it’s not available or around me, I don’t have too hard of a time staying away. Replacing sweet treats with fruit or granola bars will fill you up, but not weigh you down like chocolate and other sugary foods. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t have a small cheat day every once in awhile! Everyone deserves a little ice cream reward after a week of good, clean eating.
This brings me to my next tip. Foods that are not processed are so much better for you and are almost guaranteed to make you feel better. Eating a piece of grilled chicken is an excellent source of protein, whereas a ten-pack of McNuggets is not so great for you. Clean eating allows you to detox from all the chemicals that are obtained in processed foods. You don’t need those crazy diet meals to “go on a diet.” Clean eating is eating simple!
Clean eating has multiple benefits for you and your body. One of them that has proved to be very prevalent in my life is the energy aspect of eating clean. High-fiber fruits give you so much energy, rather than a processed energy bar, which usually contains an intense amount of added sugar. This being said, there are many protein bars that are actually good for you. My favorite are Whey Protein Hammer Bars. They have 11 grams of protein and are made with all organic ingredients. These bars do contain eight grams of fat, but it’s the type of fat that your body converts to energy, not the type that weighs you down. They also taste pretty amazing!
Eating clean allows your body to become stronger. The lean protein that is an important concept of eating clean contributes to building muscle mass and increases your metabolism. These proteins include nuts, spinach, quinoa, and chickpeas, in addition to the non-vegetarian options of chicken, fish, and beef.
So that’s my spiel for this time! I encourage you guys try some clean eating habits, and see how it changes your lifestyle. Until next time!
