Julia McKinney’s ‘Senior Crown’ just got an upgrade from the painted cardboard ones seen on campus all day. On a cool night in Ensley Stadium, she was crowned Roberson’s 2017 Homecoming queen.
“I’m really happy,” McKinney said through tears. “It’s very overwhelming and I didn’t really expect it.”
McKinney, who is also Roberson’s student body president, was escorted by her father and said it was emotional for him as well. McKinney was also nominated as a sophomore two years ago.
Earlier in the day, senior Ge’Kovie Jackson was named the Homecoming King at TC’s pep rally. Jackson said he was excited to receive the honor and hoped that he could be a part of making some positive changes around campus.
“TC Roberson is amazing. We need to keep our excellence,” said Jackson.
