Hey guys! Welcome back to another blog post of the Vintage Soul. Today, we will be diving into the early 2000s for a glimpse of the time period’s iconic fashion statements that are still trending today. The early 2000s were all about the rise of pop-culture: Britney Spears was on everyone’s MP3 players, Lizzie McGuire and the Rugrats were popular television shows, and flip phones were in.
The first popular item I will be discussing is denim jeans. From flared jeans to rhinestone bedazzled back pockets, people found that their inner personalities could be channeled through their pantwear. The brand “7 For All Mankind” hit the market in 2000, and was soon spotted on multiple celebrities including Cameron Diaz and Beyonce. Some of the brand’s signature styles included Swarovski crystal accents. The mark denim jeans left behind is still seen today with how patchwork jeans and bell-bottoms are coming back into style.
Next up, we have halter tops. These sleeveless triangular tops came back during the 2000s thanks to celebrities reviving them. In the 20th century, this staple item was seen in bathing suits and formal wear. People loved them because they were easy to style and easy to make since they required less material. In the 2000s, halter tops were glittery, camo, disco, and colorful. People could choose from a variety of styles to fit their personalities.
The last item on our list from the early 2000s are accessories! Fake hair clips were worn all the time due to the fact that they came in all natural hair colors. One could easily clip this accessory on and have a polished hairstyle in just a few seconds. Snap clips also were very popular back then. They were fun to put into your hair because they made a slight click and of course, came in all the colors of the rainbow. You could easily clip away your bangs or put together a half up-half down do quickly. Tattoo-style chokers were also seen frequently during this period. They could be slide over your neck and were simple, yet made a statement. The choker necklace can still be seen in 2018 fashion as stores such as Forever 21 carry them with a slight modern touch on them.
Well, that’s all we have for today’s blog post. Until then, my friends!
