Hello fashionistas and welcome to the last rendition of What High Schoolers are Actually Wearing. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this blog as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it, and have taken some of my tips and applied them to your personal style.
For my last blog though, I want to talk about the overall trends I have seen this year at TC Roberson. Now, everyone has different styles, but like every highschool, many boys and girls dress similarly because of trends and popular items and I love seeing everyone’s different takes on these popular trends and styles.
For girls, I’ve seen lots and lots of cute, neutral color cropped tops. The crop tops I see are recognizably from Brandy Melville, a popular LA based store. I love Brandy Melville, although the clothes they offer are pretty simple, they are popular and trendy clothes for a good price. The tops girls wear are usually matched with an array of bottoms- black or light washed skinny jeans, jean skirts, or jean dresses (throwback to my first blog:)) In my opinion, matching a cute simple top with jeans is a way to look nice without really trying, a strategy I use almost everyday going to school. Girls have also been into dresses this year, myself included. To me, there’s nothing cuter than pairing a mini dress with a pair of Nike Air Force 1’s or a pair of converse, which has also been a popular trend this year (peep my second blog). Looking nice, whether that be wearing a nice tops and jeans or a cute dress and sneakers, can boost your confidence while in school and makes you feel good!
For boys I’ve seen the usual, khaki pants and shorts with button up shirts. Don’t get me wrong, they look nice, but this trend has been going on for a while. Another popular trend has been jeans and vans. I think that when boys wear a nice jeans and vans combo they look really nice and it’s something different then the usual khakis and button up.
All in all, high schoolers tend to follow popular trends, especially when their friends follow them too. I too follow some of these trends but try to put my own twist on them. Popular trends are awesome and are popular for a reason, but everyone’s personal style is important too! Make sure you always dress the way you want and try not to worry about the judgement of others.
Thank you so much to everyone for reading my blog and I hope to catch you fashionistas next year! Until next time, it’s Olivia Soosaar with What High Schoolers are Wearing Today signing off.
